ABOUT

Katharine Atkin

BSc Hons, MSc, MCSP, HCPC registered

I have worked in various NHS limb centres; most recently as the Specialist Physiotherapist in Amputee Rehabilitation at the Bristol Centre for Enablement. The Centre benefitted from extra Government funding to enhance our service for ex-servicemen and women. This, and the NHSE microprocessor knee policy, brought me into regular contact with high-end prosthetic componentry. I completed the Otto Bock C leg and Genium Physiotherapist's training course in July 2013, and completed an update course in November 2016. I attended training on the Ossur Rheo knee in 2017.

I trained in acupuncture for pain relief through the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP) in 2014. This, and training in mirror therapy, enables me to offer options for the treatment of phantom limb pain.

I work as an Expert Witness in amputee rehabilitation through Somek and Associates, completing quantum physiotherapy reports.

I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, am registered with the Health Professions Council and am a member of the British Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Amputee Rehabilitation (BACPAR).

I aspire to facilitate a client to achieve the full potential of their prosthesis, enabling them to live their life to the max.
